School Policy Guide

A variety of special interest clubs are available after-school at Spring Harbor. Clubs may include horseback riding, drama, music, chess, games, Minecraft, yearbook, sports, skiing, canoeing and more. Clubs are based on student interest. Fees may be charged for some clubs.

Students at Spring Harbor Middle School should feel safe and secure at all times. Please contact us with any bullying concerns. Families may also fill out a WIN form.

We firmly believe in the power of teaching, modeling and reinforcing positive behavior. Moreover, we believe that middle school students make mistakes and it is our responsibility to help them learn from those mistakes.

Breakfast is served before school. Students may choose to eat during this time or bring a snack from home instead. Lunch is served as well.

Breakfast and lunch account payments can be made online or students may bring payment to the lunchroom.

Please review the dress code with your student and contact school if you are unsure of what is acceptable dress.

Cell phones, earbuds, and electronic devices need to be powered off and put away for the entire school day with the exception of recess. Parents are asked to call the office if they need to talk with their child during the day. Students having their device out at any other time than recess will be asked to turn their phones into the office for the remainder of the day.

At Spring Harbor we have prioritized high-quality and supportive communication. Please do not hesitate to contact us. We encourage parent participation in our classes and field trips. Parents are welcome to visit their child’s classes as well.

Spring Harbor Middle School prioritizes field trips as we truly believe learning occurs both within and beyond the four walls of our school.

Parent/teacher conferences happen for all students in November and February. If the formal parent/teacher conference dates and/or the location do not work, please ask for an alternative time.

Spring Harbor Middle School has an automated Safe Arrival voice message system. This line is checked regularly throughout the school day. If your child will be absent from school, tardy to school, or leaving school for an appointment please call (608) 204-1108.

Emergency situation procedures: Spring Harbor Middle School students are explicitly taught the expectations related to all safety drills. Fire drills and other safety procedures are typically performed without much prior notice to ensure the authenticity of practice. Parents will be notified of any practice of a lockdown or evacuation (to our alternative location) drill.

All students at Spring Harbor Middle School are required to rent a lock from school and are required to use it at all times. The Spring Harbor lost and found box is located on our first floor. It is cleaned out quarterly; please encourage your student to look for missing items as soon as possible.

Spring Harbor Middle School uses the regular yellow bus service. Bus routes are available at enrollment and online.
