Supply Chain Issues and School Meals
While supply chain issues are nationwide, our team is committed to adapting our menu and operations to ensure our meals are delicious and maintain high standards of quality and nutrition. We apologize for any inconvenience that these product shortages might cause and sincerely appreciate your patience.
As we all prepare for September, MMSD wants to make you aware of a significant change that may impact the families in our community. During the pandemic, MMSD received federal aid that allowed all students to eat school meals free of charge. These funds are no longer available. As a result, MMSD will revert to pre-pandemic practices of charging for breakfast and lunch.
All families are encouraged to complete an application for free and reduced meals (educational benefits). Families who qualify could receive additional benefits - such as discounted, waived or reduced fees for sports, activities, MSCR programs, and more. Even if you don’t qualify for benefits, completed applications directly impact school district funding.
If you need any assistance in filling out the free and reduced application, please call your school office or the Food & Nutrition Office at 608-204-4001. Our Office hours are 6:30am - 3:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Once again the UpRoot by REAP food truck will bring innovative, local lunches to some of our high schools. MMSD and REAP Food Group have worked closely to find the best local ingredients and the most delicious menu items that students will enjoy.
